Join us as a Volunteer

Our Wonderful Volunteers!

"We come into this world with nothing on our backs and we will leave with nothing... Before we leave, we return to society what it has given us. We try to treat every person as a human being."
- Dr Wee Kim Wee (1915 - 2005), former President of Singapore, quoted from SALT Magazine, Jul-Aug 2005.

"I’ll serve till I die."
- Foo Kee Seng, 89, a grassroots volunteer for the past 39 years in Joo Chiat. He was awarded the Public Service Star (Bar) at National Day Awards 2005, quoted from SALT Magazine, Sep-Oct 2005.

"It’s a form of charity. I do this to help others."
Daniel Leong, volunteer for the 100-million long-term medical study on the state of Singaporeans’ health, quoted from SALT Magazine, Mar-Apr 2006.

Do you...
  • agree that it is absolutely WRONG to label those mentally ill as ‘siao’, ‘psycho’, ‘schizo’, ‘nutter’ ?
  • want to know more about mental illness?
  • want to do a part for the community and have a sense of satisfaction & fulfillment by encouraging early treatment and improving the attitude towards mental illness among the community?
  • want to meet more friends?

As we would be holding a talk and an activity monthly, we would appreciate if you could come forward to take up the following roles:-

Speakers - We require mental health professionals to join in the force to update the community on mental health issues in order to combat mental health stigma and encourage early treatment. Meanwhile, we also welcome people with mental illness or their caregivers to share their experience at our talks.

Photographers - You too play an important role by capturing the anti-stigma effort of our volunteers. Photos taken would be displayed on this website and awareness-raising materials.

Coordinators - You could assist us in registration, sale of Silver Ribbon pins and crowd control or you could help to brainstorm anti-stigma activities.

All volunteers would be invited to:
  • An Orientation for an introduction of Silver Ribbon (Singapore) and a brief understanding of mental health issues.
  • Our Monthly Volunteer Meetings to share their views on how we could combat mental health stigma.

At the end of each year, volunteers would be invited to Silver Ribbon (Singapore) L. A. V. A. Day. (An appreciation event specially arranged for volunteers- Let’s Appreciate Volunteers Annually).

We would appreciate if you could update us on a change of your mailing address or email address.
