About Us

Silver Ribbon Coalition was founded by Jean Singleton Liechty, J. D. in 1993 (www.silverribbon.org). We managed to obtain her consent for the use of Silver Ribbon symbol in Singapore and registered Silver Ribbon (Singapore) on 21 Dec 2005 (ROS No 2210/2005). On 4 Feb 2006, President S R Nathan launched Silver Ribbon (Singapore) officially at HDB Hub, Singapore. 20 dedicated volunteers assisted to make the event a successful one.
Dr Lim Cheng Hwa, President of Silver Ribbon (Singapore), presented a token of appreciation to President S R Nathan for gracing Silver Ribbon (Singapore) Official Launch on 4 Feb 2006.

Eight organizations were invited to update the community on mental health issues and available services. They were Action Group for Mental Illness (AGMI), Chung Hwa Medical Institution, Community Addiction Management Programme (CAMP), Early Psychosis Intervention Programme (EPIP), Institute of Mental Health (IMH), National Library Board (NLB), SAGE Counselling Centre, and Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH). In addition, Urban Passion, a youth dance team from Singapore Soka Association, Dr Alex Su, a psychiatrist from Institute of Mental Health and Jinfa, volunteers from Singapore Association for Mental Health and Irfan & his team also volunteered their time to perform at the launch.
Silver Ribbon (Singapore) was also a recipient of NVPC's New Initiative Grant (www.nvpc.org.sg).
